October 11th and 12th: Windsurfing on the Mar Menor,
Spain.

The Mar Menor is a natural paradise on the Murcian coast and ideal for
water sports. Over 70 kms of beaches around the interior sea and many more

along the Mediterranean side of the coast, an average temperature of 17º

and good wind conditions, all make the Mar Menor an ideal place for
sailing. And of course windsurfing is one of the most popular nautical
sports, with the Surfari being the most emblematic windsurfing event held

during the year. The Surfari of the Mar Menor is the big autumn meeting
for all windsurfers, with well over a hundred boards and numerous
exhibiters decending on the town of Los Alcázares for this classic
event.

The meeting itself combines long-distance races around the Mar Menor with

an exhibition on the beaches of Los Alcázares of all the new
equipment
that will be appearing next season.

For this, the VI holding of the event, there will be more prizes and more

participants, of whom we hope there will be even more foreigners taking
part. The event, organised by the Estación Náutica
del Mar Menor (an
organisation bringing together the entrepreneurs of the area), also has
the support of the magazine Surf a Vela.

Two different regattas will be held, one for Formula Windsurfing, with no

limitation on the material used (bring your license and class card), and
another for Formula Open where sails are limited to less than 10 sq.
metres.

The Mar Menor itself can be reached by motorway from Alicante (80 km) and

Murcia (50 km). By plane (Alicante airport 62 km) and San Javier (6 km),
and by train and bus from Murcia.

Apart from the competition itself, the event will coincide with the
Fiestas of Los Alcázares and there will be concerts during the
night,
music on the beach, lots of partying and free baptisms in many other
nautical sports for anyone that wants to try their hand at diving,
canoeing, sailing, etc.
