UKWA South West Cup, Marazion, Cornwall, 9 – 11 April
Current Formula Windsurfing World Champion Christine Johnston could not have hoped for a better start to the season. Her new equipment from Starboard and Gaastra gave her excellent board speed and she finished first woman, and ninth overall (out of 58 entries) at the first British Formula race event of the year.
Four races were completed on day two of the event in light and shifty off shore winds, and cold weather conditions. These turned out to be the only four races counting towards the event, with the wind being too light for championship racing on the other days. Christine then set off on the long drive back to her hometown of Brighton, and arrived back home safe if tired late on Easter Sunday.
