This weekend delivered wind, and lots of it, but not only did experienced windsurfers across the country make it out there were also many newbies introduced to the sport – including over at Notts County:

“Notts County Sailing Club held its annual Open Day as part of the RYA’s Push the Boat Out fortnight, aimed at encouraging people to try sailing. The day was a great success with around a hundred signing up and having a go sailing in cobbles, on windsurfers and in the club Laser Stratos, along with trips on the front of a Tandem windsurfer. There were plenty of smiling faces, in spite of it being cool and quite windy. We are confident we will fill our two upcoming RYA course.

“We coincided with our annual fundraising for Sail4Cancer where we have Cake-by-the-Lake, encouraging members to bring cakes, and of course then buy them with proceeds to charity, asking visitors to join in meant we raised about £500 for the charity.”
