Dave White reports from the BSA Slalom and UKWA Freestyle first rounds at Hayling Island over the Easter weekend, 23-24 April 2011…
What better reward but a scorching Easter to burn off the blues of this year’s relentless winter? But can we really put high turnout down to a touch of heat? Let’s be honest, all would have been forgiven for avoiding the holiday traffic at the sight of Windguru’s starless prediction, but those who made the journey enjoyed a top star day at the beach.
The fastest sailors on the water were those competing in an impromptu tow-in freestyle competition, won by Adam Sims over Max Rowe. But Max turned the tables for the light-wind windSUPing expression session, beating Adam into second place. Back on land the brands displayed the latest and hottest shapes windsurfing has to offer, though if wandering eyes were anything to go by, they had to play second fiddle to the bikini clad beauties on the beach.
This may be the first event on the British Slalom and Freestyle Tours, but as these girls take to the water Jay Z might want to rewrite his lyrics, as these girls, girls, girls, win everyone’s R.E.S.P.E.C.T. See ya at the next event.
