The wind and waves may not be gracing Rhosneigr’s shore this weekend but the sailors sure know how to have a good time in North Wales!
Friday night saw windsurfers take to the slopes at Llandudno Ski Centre with yet again, Team Starboard risking life and limb by deciding to windsurf down the ski slope and launch themselves off the ski ramp! Sails were bolted onto snowboards and off they all went – total nutters but the shots looks good!
Onto Saturday and a team trip to Starvation Island was organized. It’s only 750m offshore but it took the raggle of windsurfers, kayakers and paddleboarders quite a long time to get there. Funsport’s Bucky and BWA Louise Emery ran the rescue cover via the jetbike and also helped tow the stragglers along. Once the island was reached, Adam Simms but on an amazing display of tricks. Pulled behind the jetbike, he reached planning speed and then launched into flakas and forward loops – a very talented young man is all we can say.
Then the rest of the day was spent perfecting fancy dress outfits with last minute trips to the fancy dress shop in Bangor. Photos of this spectacular evening to follow but special mention must be given to Dave Horrocks who came as George Michael in full police uniform, Lucas & Justine who were Axel Rose and Amy Whitehouse, Caroline Buckland as Lady Ga Ga, Bucky as Tom Jones with Caroline’s knickers attached, Phil Horrocks as Pavarotti and John Skye as Limahl although he didn’t mean to come as the 80’s popstar!
Sunday is all about recovery before hitting the road to Holyhead Port for the afternoon ferries to Ireland. Looks like we will hit the ground running in Ireland with wind and waves forecast for Monday and Tuesday – it’s going to be a busy week.
