Dave Hackford visits Notts County

Dave Hackford, Tushingham supremo and Raceboard expert came to Notts County to impart some of his knowledge and encourage some club racing.

Dave Hackford demonstrating onshore the importance of railing.

Thirty windsurfers, including some from other parts of the Country arrived on a Wednesday night to hear a talk about rigging a race sail and why it is different to a short board sail, including some interesting lessons Dave learned at Mumbles the previous weekend – even those at the top make mistakes

Then it was on the water for some downwind starts and sailing, followed by long upwind legs and some short sharp races. David also demonstrated railing and the reasons behind it and tacking.

Everyone had an excellent time and learnt a whole load of new information, hopefully they will now take part in some more racing.

David dished out some spot prizes whilst wishing 73 year old Russ Towns (still racing at club level very effectively) a happy birthday.
