The weekend will include windsurfing tuition, Standup Paddleboard demos/tuition and yoga winding down with a barbecue and the option to camp out by the lakeside.
About the instructors
Rachel Tucker
Returning to Cornwall for a weekend of women’s specific coaching is Rachel Tucker (who has been previously been spotted blasting across Daymer Bay, on a wave at Gwithian or teaching the ladies of Sibly Back Reservoir.)
Rachel brings enthusiasm, a smile and a wealth of experience gained over 7 years of windsurf teaching in the UK and abroad. She has worked in centres in Greece and Tenerife and her windsurfing travels have taken her to Ireland, Egypt, The Caribbean and Western Australia. Rachel has been a magazine test team member and has taken part in international women’s camps, rubbing shoulders with the stars of the PWA. She has since returned to the ‘real world’ and fully understands the challenge of juggling windsurfing and life’s other commitments.
Marie Buchanan
With a long history of success in course racing, Marie’s fitness and racing skills have come in handy as she’s recently embraced the disciplines of slalom and wave sailing. In 2009 her competitive streak brought victories in every event she took part in, including a remarkable win at the Tiree Wave Classic, her very first wave competition!
Marie is an all-round water-woman: when the wind isn’t blowing she can often be found riding one of her paddleboards; she was selected for the UK Starboard SUP race team this year and she’s one of the leading British women in SUP for both surfing and racing.
She loves a challenge and when not pushing herself on the water takes every opportunity to encourage women to go for it and prove that windsurfing is as much a fantastic sport for the girls as it is the guys!
