The Hayling Island slalom season kicks off on the 9th April, with special guest Ross Williams. The Hayling slalom is open to ALL levels of racer and the perfect opportunity to get involved in some fun, easy racing. More details below from the organisers:
We are pleased to announce that the UK’s top slalom sailor, Ross Williams, will be attending the first Hayling Slalom club evening of 2014 to be held on Wednesday April 9th. The club, which is affiliated to the UKWA, runs slalom racing on alternate Wednesday evenings in the summer when the forecast is suitable.
For our season opener on April 9th we will be meeting at West Beach, Hayling seafront from 5.30pm onwards irrespective of the forecast. There are a variety of possibilities depending on the weather. If we get wind we will run slalom racing off the beach. If there is no wind and it is dry then we will run a land based clinic where Ross will answer any questions you have about slalom or indeed any aspect of windsurfing. We will be guided by your questions but we expect to run through rigging & tuning on the beach.
There will also be SUPs available for you to use if you fancy a paddle. There will be refreshments in the form of pizza & drinks. Should there be rain we will move the clinic under cover.
To race with the club we ask that participants are current members of the UKWA so that both they and the HS organisers are indemnified in case of accidents. However, it is a case of the more the merrier and non-UKWA members are very welcome to join us for Ross’s clinic on land to meet people and get a taste for what HS has to offer.
