News from the Emerald Isle of their popular annual windsurfing festival…
It’s that fun time of year again the WINDSURFING ‘FLEADH’!!!! This year Fingal Sailing School & Wind & Wave have kindly been nominated to hold the festival from Malahide! We’re hoping it will be as successful as other years & will ensure everyone has a great time!
The dates, as usual, are the May Bank holiday weekend, 1st, 2nd & 3rd May.
The Plan for the weekend is as follows:
It will kick off on Sat a.m with some sessions and dedicated clinics for all levels: these will be hugely popular as there have been loads of requests from people looking to learn & perfect gybing / start procedures & also to get some rules for racing. Then in the afternoon we can put this into practise with some full on racing!
Throughout the whole weekend we’ll have the speed wall in use with the KING and QUEEN of the lake prize coming back! Plus Windwise’s Gareth Allen who will be running some great sessions. John Kenny – Ireland Speed King – will go through a full rigging session and some tips and techniques for speedsurfing. Danny Mulran is gonna give a great hand to all aspects of the slalom racing scene.
Then Sunday will we’ll have some more clinics / coaching sessions in the am followed with some more racing in the afternoon: with prizes on offer!
Entertainment-wise the plan is:
Sat evening our local Gibney’s have reserved their wine bar for us to kick the night off with & they’ll provide some tasty food platters!
Sunday night is ‘Thee’ night in the GAA club in Malahide. We’ve reserved the back room & organised a meal & drinks for up to 60 people. There’ll be a late bar with live band and an extension till 2.30am.
Monday will see a more relaxed day prob because of the sore heads but sessions will be booked throughout the day, finishing off early enough to allow people to travel home.
On hand throughout the weekend will be full use of our kayaks, SUPs & sailing boats. If you’ve would like to bring any of your own gear you’re more than welcome & we’ll feature it on all promotional information.
We’ll have a bbq running throughout the weekend based on our decking – so fingers crossed some sun will shine!
