Keep La Franqui Open!

Update* there is now a Facebook group for the petition here and the group are encouraging you to leave a comment here with your view.

Boards has found the news that yet more beloved windsurfing beaches are under threat shocking, the latest place to potentially lose windsurfing access to some of it’s best beaches is the south of France. However, you can help. A petition has been set up by a French group to put across windsurfer’s views and hopefully save some of the best speed and slalom spots in France. The site appears to only be in French, so apologies for the Google translation, our French isn’t quite up to speed in the Boards’ office!

Dear friends windsurfers

The spot called “Old News” is threatened with imminent closure. Indeed, the Conservatoire du Littoral has to purchase it for one symbolic euro with total ban on access.

After the closure of the range of the Coussoulles Franqui here that we close one of the most beautiful spots in the region slalom not to say France.

Who’s next? South Beach Port-La-Nouvelle already threatened during the summer Gruissan, Port Mahon, Lapalme with Natura 2000, the Nautique, the Leucate be?

We must all be aware that we must defend access to our spots and practices that remain unrecognized government. Our sport as we know perfectly ecological because it uses only the wind, we must make our voices heard in order to continue practicing.

In an attempt to prevent the closure of this spot, we ask you to send the following message followed by your name and address to this mailbox:

pln.windsurf @ free.fr

“I ask that the traditional beach called Old New access remains open to the practice of sports including windsurfing thanks to the establishment of a tread for a reasoned and reasonable access to the shore”

or the French version…

« Je demande que l’accès traditionnel à la plage dite de la Vieille Nouvelle reste ouvert pour la pratique des sports de glisse et notamment du windsurf grâce à la mise en place d’une bande de roulement permettant un accès raisonné et raisonnable au rivage »

Be careful not to procrastinate, time is short and we are already taking contacts for appointment earlier this year to try to save this spot.

Thank you to you all for your support and good glide as it is still possible!
