Watch the official event video from PWA Fuerteventura as Steven van Broeckhoven (B-72) from Belgium and Sarah-Quita Offringa (ARU-91) from Aruba win the Freestyle World Cup 2011.
Men’s fleet
In a thrilling superfinal Steven van Broeckhoven (B-72) defeated the reigning champion Gollito Estredo (V-01). It was a 3:2 decision to the edge and only 0.5 points difference from the judges’ scores in favour of Van Broeckhoven who already came to Fuerteventura in first place in. Having defended his second place against Kiri Thode (NB-61) he wins the final of the double elimination against Gollito Estredo (winner of the single elimination). With one victory each the pair would have to go head-to-head one more time to declare who would be the overall event winner.
Women’s Fleet
In the women’s fleet everything was going according to plan for Sarah-Quita Offringa (ARU-91) from Aruba. She surely won the final against Laure Treboux (SUI-4) from Switzerland. Yoli de Brendt (Venezuela, V-26) defended her third place against Xenia Kessler (D-211) from Denmark. It was the last event for women’s fleet this year. Sarah-Quita Offringa (20 years old) is world champion 2011 – for the fourth time. Unbeatable as she currently is in freestyle, she now plans to make steps into wavesailing. http://mpora.com/videos/wW8INUR2C
