Steve King Joins Quatro and Goya

Andy King and the Goya/Quatro team will be joined by a fresh face for 2014, none other than Andy’s twin – Steve King. Steve will be riding his new equipment down in the south west regularly, and together with Andy will be able to provide you with a valuable insight into the latest gear. More from the King brothers:

A definition of my brother, by Andy King:

Steve is: A superb free sailor, has all the moves, exceptional surfer, power house fitness, previously disillusioned by competition.

Steve says:

“After spending a very rewarding five years windsurfing here in Cornwall as part of the 5 Oceans Sails development team and riding Moo custom boards I have reluctantly parted company with both brands and joined up with my brother Andy to ride for Goya Sails. To avoid confusion I will however be using Quatro boards, with an 84L and 98L Quatro Cube Quad making up my two board quiver.

“With both Andy and myself now based in Cornwall and sailing together much of the time it was very evident to me that Andy has really excelled of late using his Goya equipment. Despite working full time he has proved time and time again that he can compete with the UK’s very best wave sailors and I put a lot of this down to his equipment which never lets him down, whether he is landing from 40 feet or smacking a mast high bomb at Hayle his kit survives and he’s back out doing the same again. When I would ask him his secret he would just reply – ” It’s the Goya Gear, it’s just so easy to sail “….

“Teaming up with Andy will also allow us to swap models of sails as I have opted to ride the 2014 Goya Banzai whilst Andy has switched back to Goya Eclipse for 2014. This will mean we can both give thorough and honest feed back to potential customers regarding the Goya / Quatro wave range whilst also providing a demo opportunity for those living in or visiting the South West.

“2013 proved to be a memorable year for GOYA and QUATRO International with a World Wave Champion and Aloha Wave Champion and it is clear the gear has no upper performance limits but from my first venture onto the water last Thursday in difficult conditions at Crantock what was immediately apparent was just how easy the gear is to sail.

“My plans for 2014 are simple, to sail as much as possible. If there are events with good forecasts I will travel with Andy to compete. If there are good forecasts elsewhere we will venture out of the South West to catch them. Whilst good sessions at home will be captured and shared on Boards Magazine with a continuation of Andy’s short features – check out more from Andy here.

“See you on the water!”
