The ill fated Surf Reef that’s located in the Dorset sea town of Boscombe has once again come up against problems with the news that the company responsible for the original construction and imminent repairs, ASR LTD, are reported to be in liquidation.
This is bad news for windsurfers (surfers, SUP’ers and bodyboarders) who were banking on the feature to increase the number of good ‘wave’ days the spot receives.
After initially going way over budget, and time-scale it took to be completed, another stroke of bad luck hampered the project when a boat hit the reef with its propeller rendering it unusable since May 2011.
Repairs were due to take place in May but this now looks increasingly unlikely.
