Mark Hosegood the new UK Amateur Champion!

Weston Super Mare isn’t the most likely breeding ground for a windsurfing champion.
But Bristol-based Mark Hosegood, 22, has proved that the challenging cross-onshore
location is good enough to nurture the best.

Mark, who is sponsored by Wet and Windy in Bristol together with Naish boards
and Simmer Sails, is now the Overall UKWA Amateur Champion. David Swift (younger
brother of Robby) came in a close second by just .7 points.

Mark’s results included a third place in the wave competition in Ireland in
September, and a third in the October White Air wave comp where, in the light
airs, he used his Flying Pig freestyle board to great effect (yes, in the waves!)
Plus, Mark also came third in the freestyle event at the Poole Windfest, though
this had no points effect on his UKWA rankings.

His endeavours mean that Mark has earned entry into the UKWA Gold Fleet (the
pros) for next season where he hopes to excel. For information on the brands
