IRELAND GET FAKEFISH
This year sees Chris Audsley (Mistral / Sailworks) becoming part of ‘Team
Fakefish’ (www.fakefish.com) joining team member John Skye (F2 / Arrows)
with Jem Hall (North Shore / Neil Pryde Wetsuits / Chiemsee) as trainer and
coach. The coach / sailor relationship certainly began with a baptism of
fire with a windy and extreme contest in Ireland in the first event of the
UKWA Triple crown Freewave series. Chris secured an overall 5th place
behind some very talented and experienced sailors aided by a full power
display on the last day of competition to get a 3rd in the final round
nailing some monster back and push loops along with solid riding in 30 – 40
knots of wind.
Adding to his results in Ireland Chris secured an overall
1st in the recent pro ‘expression sessions’ at the UKWA qualifier in Shoreham.
John has been training hard on Maui with the very talented pro tour young
guns of Kauli Seadi, Dioni Guadigno and Jesse Brown. With a couple of new
moves up his sleeve Sky Boy will definitely be one to watch this year. John
has just touched down and taken off to Guincho to compete in a local event
there. Hoping to repeat his success of last year where he secured his
European Freestyle Champion result.
Team Fakefish is backed by Tapping The Source (www.tappingthesource.com),
the software development house behind the new 2XS website. They have
provided a financial package in order that team coach Jem Hall may travel
with the sailors to key events to provide video analysis during competition
and oversee preparation and coaching. The sailors will also have windsurf
specific workouts and nutritional advice provided. Being a part of the
Boards test team enables Jem to offer equipment tuning tips and ensure that
the boy’s toys are fully up to speed. Rumours that the boys have to warm up
in lycra whilst doing aerobics are unfounded.
