Dorset School Games

As part of the Inter-Dorset School Games held at the OTC UK and organised by Starboard/Tushingham guru Sam Ross over the weekend, the Challenge Fleet saw a Tushingham Start and Starboard Rio ‘one design’ race with at least 13 competing in each race.

With well over 40 entrants from all over the country the games were a massive success, with Team Wey Valley taking the win.

James, Harry and Ben from All Saints School also did extremely well, coming sixth out of the nine schools attending. But it was Wey Valley who proved their experience and commitment would count on the day. Ali Stevenson, Joe Wells and Sam Avant did brilliantly in the ‘Challenge Fleet’, with everyone making the final and Ali taking the bullet! In the ‘Gold Fleet’, Josh Sheppard and Joe Adams fought through the fleet after difficulties at the start, whilst Emma Stevenson and Tom Wells lead both races from the start. Collectively the team claimed the crown as Dorset Champions quite convincingly, making us and Pam Govier from the Will Mackaness Trust (who has been instrumental in their progress), super proud of them.
