Boards in Tenerife

Most sailors arrived in Tenerife yesterday, as did the very large container of equipment that carried all the sailors gear from Gran Canaria.

Many of the top men and women hit the water yesterday, in fairly light (4.2 – 4.5) winds. Koester was absent as he hasn’t arrived just yet, but among the stand outs were Campello and Brawzinho who were putting out the big jumps even in the fickle conditions. Gaastra/Tabou boys Mussolini and Traversa shone too with slick wave rides, making the most of the relatively small waves.

Conditions in El Cabezo are very different to Pozo, so after a day or two to adapt we are sure to see all the guys really starting to perform over the next day or two.

On the women’s side of the competition, a solid fleet of 14 sailors have already registered, including Ireland’s Katie McAnena. With storm force winds yet again, it looks like it will be a tough but highly competitive week for all.
