BWA Wales – Live From Day Two

17:12 – Here is a reminder of where we got to…

17:09 – And after a long wait…we are off again!

15:03 – Still waiting for the waves to build. People planing fairly consistently on 5.3m’s now with Justina and Amanda on 4.7’s.

14:36 – Wind is up and people are planing on 5.0m’s.  Just need the waves to build a bit now which should happen as the tide comes in.  Definitely expect some action in the next hour or so.  Check the Webcam here: http://www.funsportonline.co.uk/default.aspx

14:29 – Conditions are starting to sharpen up now.  The wind has gone more sideshore (Port Tack), the tide is on the push now.  A few people are out ‘playing’ and its getting close to contestable conditions…

13:48 – Still postponed and very little change in conditions….some good waves, sunny, but only around 12 knots of wind…

12:46 – Adam Lewis – “I was on my 5.3 and 95 and it was actually quite windy.  I don’t think I had a bad heat, but I probably didnt go high enough up the beach where it was more cross shore.  I think I sailed pretty well for starboard tack – got a back side 360 and some jumps, but I think Thorpey had a good one.  Starboard tack cross-on is by far my weakest, so I’m not too gutted.  Hopefully we will get back out this afternoon or tomorrow for the double.”

12:33 – John Skye – “I had a really good morning.  I often struggle here to find the good ramps.  Today I found it a lot easier to find a good ramp. I was on an 83 Wave Cult and 5.3 Four which was perhaps just a little too big at times, but I needed it for the lulls as it was gusty.  I thought the waves were pretty easy to pick and I think I got nearly 10 turns on my first wave! I’ve been pretty ill for the past 2 days, so I’m glad it is postponed for a bit as I was getting low on energy.  Just getting my first bit of food in 2 days back into me!”

12:28 – Dave Horrocks – “Alfie sailed well.  He nicked me on his last wave which he shredded.  It was really close, with just a point in it!  I think we may get some conditions later on today, but they probably wont do the pro’s double until tomorrow – which looks good!”

12:25 – Simon Crowther – “I think Bubble has a knack of making these conditions look good and it was really tight between him and Skye boy.  Alfie is sailing really well too and actually had Proffitt worried at one point!”

12:19 – Steve Thorpe on knocking out Adam Lewis “I don’t really know how that happened to be honest! I woke up in Manchester at 6 in the morning with Kebab all over me and arrived just in time for the second heat. I had two good waves quite high upwind.  I was powered up pretty nicely on 4.9 and having a good time!  Got a nice forward at the start and as I can’t backloop on starboard, I followed it up with a table top. Adam stayed more on the other side of the bay where it was more Port tack, but I didn’t really see much of what he did. Pretty chuffed to beat Adam to be honest as he is ripping at the moment. I put it down to the fins ;-)”

12:09 – Well the sun has come out, the waves are still reasonable despite the dropping tide, but the wind is bang onshore and too light – probably 10-12 knots at the moment.  We are still on postponement.  With an increasing wind forecast and more Southerly direction forecast for later in the day, its looking good for this afternoon/ evening….
