BWA Wales Day Two…
The pro single elimination is on with some shock early exits already, scroll down for full updates throughout the day:
18:43 – Well, the wind is here, but the waves have dropped, so the judges have decided to wait for tomorrow for the winners and losers finals. The forecast looks windier and more sideshore for tomorrow, so they plan to kick off with the finals first thing in the morning. As soon as we know the start time, we will post it here.
18:30 – Still waiting…Ben is out practicing…
18:27 – It’s looking windy now. This could be good!
18:25 – Final up next. It looks like Proffitt vs Horrocks but we wait for confirmation…
18:23 – And Horrocks pulls it all together with a second nice ride. Cox has some work to do.
18:22 – Its a clean tweaked pushy for Horrocks, whilst Cox doesnt get lucky with the ramps on his run out.
18:18 – And he gets one with a clean taka! Cox doesnt have the tricks, but he has a powerful style that the judges like.
18:17 – Horrocks gets a low but perfectly clean backloop whilst Cox gets another couple of turns, but falls again. Horrocks needs a couple of waves.
18:16 – Horrocks gets a stalled forward, whilst Cox falls on his ride – he did get 3 turns first though, which may count for something..
18:15 – Horrocks gybes twice to pick up a set, but still doesnt get a ride.
18:13 – Both sailors are planing no problem now, but the waves are looking sparse…
18:11 – Cox gets a low backloop and decent forward on his first run. Horrocks falls on his ride.
18:09 – Dont forget you can check the latest conditions here: http://www.funsportonline.co.uk/default.aspx
18:07 – Looks like we are off again. Postponement down – 3 mins until Horrocks vs Cox
18:05 – The wind is building again. Skye goes out for a free sail and planes straight off the beach on a 5.2. We could be back on again v soon….
18:03 – Proffitt goes through against Skye.
17:55 – Neither of them can get planing…its clouded over and the wind has dropped…and the heat is postponed.
17:53 – The heat starts and both riders are pumping to get planing on the way out. Cox grabs a forward and both stop dead in a lull.
17:52 – That’s the heat over. Next up Phil Horrocks vs James Cox. It’s definitely looking lighter.
17:50 – It looks like the wind has dropped a bit with both riders struggling to plane at times…
17:45 – Skye finally gets his backloop whilst Proffitt gets a sweet backside 360 but doesnt manage to link it up to much else…
17:44 – Skye crashes another backloop whilst Proffitt gets a planing forward off a small ramp.
17:43 – Both riders struggling for a wave on that run in. Proffitt gets one, but its small.
17:41 – Proffitt lands a tweaked pushloop, but quite low..whilst Skye crashes a bigger backloop.
17:41 – Skye starts off with a good wave..
17:39 – Horrocks gets through. Proffitt and Skye up next…
17:37 – Phil is clearly happy with his jump score as he passes by two ramps.
17:35 – Thorpey just misses another backloop.
17:34 – That said, Phil just got a nice one – 4 backside turns and two frontside on a shoulder high wave…although he falls at the end..
17:32 – It’s looking really hard to get a wave and manage to link any turns together..
17:28 – Cox goes through against Neil…Phil is looking in control as Thorpey just over rotates a big back loop.
17:24 – Phil’s local knowledge shows as he gets a big backloop off a good wave. Thorpey nearly gets a taka!
17:22 – Next up is Thorpey vs Phil Horrocks…Phil starts with a decent forward. Both are looking pretty powered up.
17:21 – 2 waves and 2 jumps to count in 14minutes.
17:18 – First heat James Cox vs Sam Neil. Sam is using a 5.0m and James on 5.2.
