RYA Team 15 meets BWA Tiree

Wednesday 16th October 22-30 knots throughout the day.

During the morning, it was too windy for us to go out this resulting in us getting taken to Balephuil bay where the wave classic was under way. During my time here I saw Ross Williams, Bubble and Ben Proffitt all getting time in to practice for their heat. We were called over to the BWA officer’s cabin where we were shown the marking scheme, flags and how the heats worked.

In the afternoon our session was held at Gott Bay so we could take the shortboards out onto the sea! As it was a very blustery day, I rigged a 4.2m sail and took out the mistral syncro again. There were no set intentions for today except go out, have fun and get wet. It was good to get out onto the sea and having the opportunity to windsurf over waves and practice out strong wind sailing on smaller kit.  I succeeded in injuring myself many times today attempting beach starts and managing the waves, no pain no gain…right? It was a really good experience to get out on the sea and practice skills on the waves and the shortboard, as before I would have just took out my techno/raceboard and just blasted up and down the coastline because I knew that was the kit I was comfortable with.
