Funniest Windsurf Face?

Pro windsurfers might look good on the water from a distance, but when you look up close – especially in images – you can often see some pretty funny faces being pulled! Here Starboard have caught up with their rider Mortiz Mauch about the subject of funny face pulling, plus they’ve shared some great pics of their rider for you to see too…

Moritz Mauch

Starboard: Which rider do you think pulls the funniest faces while windsurfing?

Moritz Mauch: I think pretty much everybody has an unique funny face while windsurfing, especially while doing hard aerial manoeuvres.

SB: Is it harder when there is a photographer in the water and you have to smile for the camera?

MM: Normally it isn´t that hard but sometimes it get´s kind of stressful when you try to get a good picture from the water. On every run you know that something could go wrong.

Boujmaa Guiloul

SB: What goes through your head when doing a double, push-forward, one-handed backloop?

MM: I´m actually just starting to learn all these jumps so they are scary, especially when they go wrong in strong winds.

SB: What’s the cheesiest pose you have pulled in the air (a wink, one handed point to the camera, shaka with both hands?)

MM: To be honest I can´t remember any special pose but onceI tried to get a shot of me jumping and letting go of the equipment. It hurt a little!

Dany Bruch

SB: Did you ever crash land while trying to look good for the water cameraman or heli ?

MM: Yes, I had some pretty bad catapults while trying to smile for the camera. One time I was looking back at the camera, lost control and just crashed hard (laughs)!
