“Jurjen Van der Noord got a lot of attention when he quite rapidly got a lot quicker and ended up beating Bjorn at the end of 2012. He is the third fastest man ever and a member of the 51 knot club. I think he is probably the best exponent of this new way of sailing and certainly the one a lot of riders have been watching… and in some ways mimicking. You can see how low he is to the water in a seat harness. His boom is almost pushing on the bottom of the luff cutout. He is very knowledgeable, very technical and I think these shots epitomise his style. Very locked down, low and outboard. He is also one of the most prepared competitors and always has a couple of people out there to caddy and support him.”
