Weight: 89kg

Job: Anaesthetist

Sponsors: Starboard / Severne / National Watersports Festival.

The first international slalom event I entered was the IFCA slalom worlds in Brazil in 2010. Since then I have taken part in a couple of PWA events a year in locations like Alacati, Fuerteventura, Costa Brava, Southern Italy and Aruba. I have also done both the Defi Wind (south of France) and the Lancelin Ocean Classic (Western Australia) marathon races several times.

I’ve entered for a couple of reasons, it was a toss up between this event and the PWA event at Alacati which are happening the same week. This event gives me the chance to visit a beautiful new venue and support a strong British team. I am excited that the guys who I have raced against in the UK for many years are coming to take on the rest of Europe as my team-mates.

If the forecast just before we fly doesn’t predict anything out of the ordinary, I’ll be taking Starboard Isonic 130 and 107 boards and 9.5, 8.6, 7.8 and 7.0m Severne Reflex 5 sails. The usual wind is thermic and not too strong.

There is a big fleet with well over 60 men registered already. As the majority of top pro sailors will be in Alacati the door is open for some not so well known guys to do very well in Croatia. I will aim for a top ten finish but no-one so far registered in the fleet is unbeatable! 😉
