The IFCA Slalom Europeans take place in Croatia from the 25th August til the 1st September, and this year a group of non-professional Brits are taking on the competition.
Kev Greenslade, James Dinsmore, Simon Pettifer, Sam Latham, Mike George and Leigh Kingaby are here to show you why you don’t need to be a pro to be an international competitor.
Somehow they have combined work, training and a lot of beach banter to prepare themselves for the IFCA Europeans, now Boards finds out more from each rider.

Height: 6’4
Weight: 96kg
Job Engineer (AgustaWestland)
Sponsors: Tabou, GA Sails, Spartan Wetsuits, F-Hot fins, Puravida.
I’ve competed in many International comps, mainly race board and formula in the early days, I also used to compete in the Brighton world cup in the 90’s. I think my last international was Formula Europeans in 2002.
I’m not getting any younger, I just fancied doing some international events before I get too old.
With The IFCA Slalom you can only register 2 Boards and 4 sails, I will be taking my Tabou Manta’s 85 & 71, Sails will be GA Vapour’s 9.6, 8.6, 7.9, 7.1, fins will be F-Hot 48cm 46cm 40cm 38cm and of course I’ll be donning a Spartan long John…Ha ha.
It’s hard to say what I should aim for at the event, having not competed at this level in such a long time, I guess we will soon find out. Top ten I will be happy with; top 5 I will be ecstatic.
