The trick to the heli-tack is getting the board through the wind, whether this is planing or non-planing, it is usually achieved by drawing a smooth rather than sharp arc into the turn.

• Check you’re clear

• Look upwind and into the turn

• Steer or carve upwind, maintaining board speed

*Top Tip – try and increase the rate at which you turn into the wind, that way you’ll maintain maximum speed and get further through.
