Here the focus is still making sure the board goes through the wind. The better you achieve this the less you’ll need to steer through the move using the sail. The windier it is the more important this will be.
• Keep looking upwind and into the turn
• Sheet in sharply, and try and push the board under the rig with the back foot to drive the nose through the wind.
• Bring the front foot up in front of the mast foot.
*Top Tip – when placing your front foot make sure it goes over the centre line, this will really help control the power when you are back winded.
