‘GREEN WAVE’ AWARD WINNERS LAUNCH ECO-SURF SHOP
June, 2006 – The award winning non-profit organisation ‘The EcoSurf Project’ (ESP) has launched the world’s first online surf shop selling 100% environmentally-friendly products. All of the profits made from the shop will be used to help further their work in promoting the use, manufacturing and development of more sustainable, eco-friendly products for surfers.
The EcoSurf Project hopes that the shop, www.ecosurfstore.com, will provide surfers with a one-stop solution to finding ‘green’ surf products and accessories, allowing them to easily find equipment and clothing that reduces their impact on the environment and (in many cases) is better for their own health too. The shop stocks a range of natural surf waxes, non-toxic wax removers, organic suncreams and lipbalms, and organic cotton and hemp t-shirts, shorts, belts, caps and accessories. A range of eco-surfboards will also soon be added to the catalogue.
As recent winners of one of the Surfers’ Path ‘Green Wave Awards’, ESP are uniquely placed to be able to understand and address the need for better access to more environmentally friendly surfing gear. Their website serves as an information portal and ‘ideas exchange’ on all aspects of eco-surfing, and also features a directory where more information on many of the companies who supply the shop can be found.
