Club Vass Team fly the flag for Britain at the PWA Freestyle in Fuerteventura
Club Vass Team Riders Andy ‘Bubble’ Chambers and Simon Hurrey are flying the flag at this years PWA freestyle competition in Fuerteventura. The boys have been perfecting their moves in Dahab and Vassiliki of late and are ready to show the world’s best what they can do. Conditions are tough and the level of sailing is very high. They will be updating us with a daily blog and video footage too – so catch their latest instalments on http://www.clubvass.com/events/219.asp
Simon Hurrey writes:
‘Bubble and I arrived 1 week before kick off for some much needed training at the event location.
Sotavento is at the Southern tip of Fuerteventura where the northerly wind howls over the sand dunes and across the water. We are finding the conditions very tough. It is super choppy and very gusty where the competition will be held. 100 % concentration is needed just to sail in a straight line, let alone pull off every trick!
We are not alone in finding the conditions difficult, everyone is.
There are however some stand outs. The French boys, Tomas Traversa and Anthony Ruenes have their moments of magic and of course Ricardo Campello, Gollito, Kauli and the rest of the southern hemisphere crew are here to contest the title.
Stay tuned for a daily report from us direct, as and when it happens.’
