Action Packed Windfest 2003
Building on the considerable success of 2002, this year the Windfest weekends
are once again being held at Hunstanton from 27 to 29th June and Paignton 11
and 12th October. This year Windfest is proud to be sponsored by Flexifoil,
Dragon Optical, Chiemsee, Freespirit, Cygnus, Mistral, Tushingham, All Terrain

a whole raft of activities and entertainment.
With the official competition for the UKWA (UK Windsurf Association) at both
events the Pros will be doing what they do best, in Slalom racing, Freestyle
and Wave disciplines and there will also be a fun slalom race. Hunstanton also
hosts the first round of the newly formed KBT (Kiteboard British Tour) this
year, and the competition format is Freestyle Wave and overall Impression Session.
Competition in both Wind and Kite is open to Pros , Amateurs and Juniors – to
find out how to enter, simply visit the official Windfest website.
In addition, this year the event organizer, Ron Smith Promotions, is sponsoring
a special prize in the amateur windsurf division for most improved sailor of
the year. This presentation will happen at the culmination of the UKWA 2003
Tour at the White Air event. Danny Seales will also be keeping his eyes open
for the winner of a special Krunk sponsored cup which will be presented to the
most improved junior kitesurfer at the finals for the Kiteboard British Tour
at White Air which happens at the Isle of Wight between the 31st Oct and the
2nd Nov 2003. (www.whiteair.co.uk)
Windsurf and Kitesurf pros will also be milling around throughout the weekends,
offering free supervised training sessions, clinics and seminars. The Flexifoil
Kite Team; Danny Seales, Aaron Hadlow and Jason Furness, will be ready, willing
and able to answer questions and offer their tips and advice on all things Kiteboarding.
All the latest range of this year’s equipment from the top Windsurf brands
such as Fanatic, North, Naish, Tushingham, JP, Mistral, Gaastra, F2, Arrows,
Starboard, amongst many others, will be rigged up and available to try out.
Also, the latest range of equipment from the Kitesurf brands such as North,
Cabrinha, Flexifoil, Naish, Wipika, Krunk, to name but a few, will be on display
and available to trial. With qualified instructors available to give help and
advice on windsurf and kitesurf techniques, from beginner to advanced, there
has never been a better opportunity to try before you buy.
All the action will not just be out on the water during the Windfest weekends
however. With displays and pro demos of Skateboarding, Power Kiting, Kite Buggying
and Kite Landboarding planned throughout the weekends there will not be a dull
moment on dry land either – either by day or night. As the sun goes down the
weekend action really starts to hot up.
This year the Windfest party schedule is shaping up to be bigger than ever.
There will be live bands, and DJs at both Hunstanton (at Hunstanton Sailing
Club) and Paignton (at The Inn on The Green), and all parties are free to enter.
So come prepared to get involved in some extreme land based booty shaking action
late into the night and for he or she who dares to wear their most loud shirt
to the party in Paignton, wins a secret prize. Also at both parties, there will
be a charity auction to raise funds for the RNLI and the invaluable job they
do every saving the lives of water sports enthusiasts around the UK.
With so much going on at the Windfest weekends, you would be mad to miss out!
