David Eberlin of Notts County Sailing Club has been in touch about their celebrity septuagenarian…
The BBC East Midlands Inside Out programme featured a good segment (over a minute) on Russ Towns (73) windsurfing at Notts County. The program illustrated that life doesn’t stop at 65 and used a skydiving granny, Russ windsurfing along with a number of others.
Russ explained how he still raced competitively, coaches youngsters (Cameron Coghill who was on the film has just got into the national squad), and still loves the sport, all the coverage was positive.
We all say at the club if we are sailing as well as Russ at over 70 we will be well pleased, he is a great advert for the benefits of windsurfing.
