Boardwise Aberdovey Demo Success

Light winds meant no racing, except for the master blaster fleet, but a great weekend was still had by all. Aberdovey slalom report from Zara Davis:

We were looking forward to the third round of the UKWA slalom being hosted by Boardwise and Fanatic North and ION. We knew a forecast wasn’t great..sunny but no wind. But Ian from Boardwise always puts on a great event and Aberdovey is a lovely venue. It can sometimes surprise you with strong winds when it wasn’t forecast. Unfortunately the fabled Dovey winds didn’t materialise, but we had lots of sunshine. The only fleet able to race in the lighter winds were the Master Blasters who managed to get quite a few rounds in and was won by Brian (Ringer) Tilbury on his race board. the rest of us made do with fantastic SUP conditions. The real highlight of the weekend was the party in the Yacht club where the forecast of light winds allowed people to really let there hair down as you can see from the pictures. We kicked the night of by finally presenting Farrel Oshea with the windsurfer of the year trophy for 2013/14. Presented by myself and Bob Ingram, chairman of the UKWA. This was followed by a great band and much drinking

It was great to see so many old friends and catch up. A big well done to the UK windsurfing trade, who turned out in big numbers with loads of kit on display showing the world that windsurfing is alive and kicking in the UK.

Next round is a couple of weeks at Worthing, again hosted by Fanatic, North and ION unfortunately I won’t be able to make it as we are in Fuerteventura for the European Speed Championships. So good luck to all the competitors and thanks again to Ian Gregorelli and Boardwise for putting on a great weekend despite the wind.
