Datchet W4CR report, WindWise Live, and more…

Tim Fraser-Harris reports on the May Day W4CR at the burgeoning Berkshire centre…

The final few (well, several...)

From 5.37am until 8.37pm on a miserable Sunday 2nd May 2010 an intrepid group of windsurfers from Datchet Watersports ensured that they kept at least two windsurfers on the water at all times… Some of the team set themselves personal challenges (Damian Murray and Nick Smith both sailed for over 10 hours each!) or windsurfed in fancy dress – Helen Graham’s Neon gear certainly stood out, as did Becky’s pirate gear… complete with cutlass! An exhausted Becky counted us down to Sunset with beeps on the van horn, and the ten remaining windsurfers headed back to the beach for the last time, to warm up and sink a well-earned beer! Paul Outram, Centre Principal looks back on a bitterly cold and wet, but highly successful day, “We had 34 windsurfers on the water over the course of the day, who sailed a total of 92 hours between them! The money is still coming in, but it looks like we’ll have raised in excess of £2000 between us…! Check out Tim’s blog on our new website (www.datchetwsports.force9.co.uk/w4cr.html) for the full story of the day!”

The last few minutes

The whole of National Windsurfing Week was a great success yet again, despite some changeable weather! Loads of people took advantage of our free tasters and clinics and many people are coming back for more! We had an incredible 12 people take advantage of our offers and take up our gym-style Platinum Package… bagging themselves unlimited kit hire and unlimited scheduled courses from only £67 per month. We have piles of new kit this year – Tushingham & Tiki sails from 1.5m-9.4m and Starboard, RRD, Naish, Fanatic, and Hifly boards from 90L – 220L. It is all ready-rigged next to the biggest and best expanse of water close to London… Why not drop us a line on 01753 683990 and arrange to come and see us. We’re even open until 8pm Wednesday-Friday, so there’s no excuse not to come for a cheeky sail after work.

Tim and his new toys

Datchet Watersports are bringing Simon Bornhoft to their West London windsurfing venue on Thursday 15th July 2010. There are limited spaces on Simon’s coaching clinic during the day. A day of expert coaching for only £99! In the evening he’ll be putting on his renowned “WindWise Live” interactive windsurfing show… If you didn’t make it to one of the shows last year, then make sure you don’t miss this opportunity!! Tickets can be reserved through Datchet Watersports and are £20 to include a sumptuous bbq (under 16s half price). There will also be some Starboard and Tushingham Demo kit to try… so give us a ring on 01753 683990!
