Dinsmore Wins Opening Round of BSA

On Sunday a cold offshore northerly meant that it was a bit gusty and sail choice was therefore very tricky. Two more full rounds were run for amateur and pro fleets. In the first pro final of the day Kev Greenslade went for the gamble of using his faster medium board and nailed a perfect pin end start to win ahead of Dinsmore who was on his big board (both on 8.6m sails). In the sixth and last final Dinsmore was back to his winning ways and Greenslade just beat Colfield and in doing so snuck into second place overall. Sam Latham took fourth just ahead of Lee Marrs (Starboard/Severne) and Simon Pettifer (Tabou/Simmer). Notable results included first youth Tom Wells in 7th and first pro fleet rookie Leigh Kingaby (RRD) in 9th.

Nick Welsh winning the Ams

In the amateur fleet, youth, Nick Welsh turned it around by winning the last three rounds to take the overall win ahead of seasoned racers Tim Gibson and Simon Langley. He is certainly a name to watch for the future. Closer to shore the masterblaster fleet completed a 27 race bonanza with Nick Cox taking overall honours ahead of Charles Milner.
