With NWF over for another year, and freshers week fast approaching, attention once again turns to the SWA and thoughts of Aussie Kiss 12 swelling like a well-watered pumpkin.
The SWA committee has been hard at work over the summer holidays to bring you another year of fun and frivolity. There have been a few major changes in the SWA over the summer. Most notably, long standing SWA director and all round hero Beaker has decided to step back from his commitments to the SWA after what seems like a lifetime of hard work.
I have to say that Beaker has been the inspiration that caused me not only to start my own uni windsurfing club, but also to become a member of the SWA committee. The countless hours he put in over the years will probably never be fully realized by most student windsurfers, and I’m sure his efforts will be sorely missed this year. (He assures me he will still attend events)Also stepping down this year is the President Will Jones. Will has graduated, and is off on an adventure sailing round the world. Will’s organisational ability has made a huge impact on the SWA’s work, and we hope that he will get involved again when he returns from his adventures.
Stepping into the role is UWE’s own Richard Hofheinz or as everyone knows him “Hoff”. This fine specimen has spearheaded the surge of student windsurfing in the UWE club in recent years, and is a well known and loved character. He brings a ruthless planning structure to the table that is causing a lot of excitement for the coming year.
Sponsors
Every year we get a few new sponsors and this year is no different! This year we are joined by Seafarer Holidays. A few students and XSWA have worked for them, and we are really excited about what they can bring to the party. We have also been joined by Hot Sails Maui, who are supporting both the series and some riders.
Over the next couple of weeks, the updates will be coming thick and fast about Aussie Kiss and the SWA event series. Keep up to date right here on Boards!
