Freddie Ide
DOB: 12/01/2001
Windsurfing for: 3 years
Favourite event to date: BWA Cornwall
Windsurfing in: The UK south coast in the summer, winter time Cape Verde nd Tenerife.
“I’ve travelled to Maui and watched Bernd (Roediger) ripping, windsurfing and SUPing, so in terms of a role model it would be him. He has progressed so fast in both sports and is still very young, I also watched Levi (Siver) tearing the break apart. There is such a talent pool in Europe as well with Dany (Bruch), Philip Koster and Adam (Lewis) to name a few.
“Looking to the future, if I could train with Bernd for wave riding and take some of the European jumping skills I think I would be pretty stoked!
“I have just got all new Goya kit, but I’ve yet to try it! I had all of my gear stolen from my Dad’s van, so I’l be getting tuned up with my new stuff in Tenerife.
“In Tenerife, I would just like to take as much experience away as possible, soak up life around the competition and meet some pro windsurfers, but most of all sail with other youth wave windsurfers.
“All my kit is new so I will need time to adjust and find my footing on the Goya kit, just taking part will be cool and I won’t feel under too much pressure to complete the few moves I have learnt to date! I hope to be able to get some decent waveriding sorted with solid bottom and top turns, plus land some backloops, hopefully one handed, as I had that dialled prior to loss of kit!”
