Skye on Fire, Brits Deliver in Tenerife

Wow. What a day! Those of you that watched the live stream over on Boardseeker will know what we mean, yesterday was an exceptionally tense day of competition at the PWA Tenerife!

The best news? The Brits were absolutely on form! The double elimination might not be over just yet, but unfortunately none of our boys have made it into the final five, although the came very close…so let’s have a final run down.

John Skye – 7th.

Had some absolutely incredible heats, in (what would be) his final one against Campello Skye gave it absolutely everything, throwing himself into death dying and kit smashing doubles. Fair play Skye, awesome performance. Solid heat, upon solid heat, stylish riding, only stopped by the Brazilian/Venezuelan on a mission.

Skye on FB: “Today we ran the double and I finished 7th. Pretty happy with that. Lost to Philip in the single and Ricardo in the double, with both of them pulling huge stalled doubles in my heats. I have the thank Jamie Hancock for doing all the hard work today. He took out Klaas and Dario on his way through the double, and then didn’t get the jumps he wanted against me. Against Ricardo today was total disaster, ending up destroying all my gear and sailing most of the heat totally overpowered and over boarded. A massive thanks to caddy Albert Pijoan E-88 for saving me twice in one day. Still very happy with the end result though and also Nayra went all the way today and tomorrow faces Steffi in the battle for 4th. She was ripping today, so hopefully she can keep going even further!”

Jamie Hancock

Jamie Hancock – 9th.

Came back on an absolute rampage in the double elimination, taking down the likes of Jonas Ceballos, Klaas Voget AND Dario Ojeda to cause some major upsets in the rankings. Jamie then met John Skye, and struggling to get the jumps he needed was finally stopped.

Adam Lewis

Adam Lewis – 9th.

The Tenerife local looked on form through all his heats, but sometimes struggling to find a ramp, like many of his competitors. After taking down Sanchez and Danielsen, Lewis faced Campello, and we all know what happened there. Lewis scored some of the best waves of the day, with some incredible hacks, chucking a LOT of spray.

Ben Proffitt

Ben Proffitt and Phil Horrocks didn’t quite have it all their own way though, with Proffitt unfortunately getting beaten by Scott McKercher and Horrocks going down to Ojeda.

Congrats to all the boys, can’t wait to have you back on our shores for the likes of NWF and the next stop on the BWA tour! You’ve done us proud!
