Team GBR at the Techno Worlds

Racing is underway for all fleets at the Techno Worlds and yet again the Brits are racing well.

Boards caught up with coach Ian Roberts after the first few tricky races:

Team GBR at Techno Worlds

“Following several days of training and preparation, almost 40 British Techno’s have made the journey to the biggest World Champs ever. We have done the practice race and opening ceremony, with the organisers doing a great job all round in setting up the smooth running of the prestigious event.

The numbers are so high that the 7.8 girls and boys, and the 6.8 boys fleet have had to be split into two fleets, and will later form gold and silver fleets. With one race completed for the 6.8 and 7.8 girls, and two races completed for the 6.8 boys and 7.8 boys, it’s all to play for. Conditions were tough today, the wind was shifty and light, and the water pretty choppy.

Dan Wilson (7.8 boys), Emma Wilson (7.8 girls) and Emma Labourne (7.8 girls) all performed well, as did James Hatcher who scored a 2nd in his first World Championship race in the 6.8’s boys.

We’re really pleased with how the GBR sailors are fairing to date, and with more breeze forecast for tomorrow, a solid day is in prospect.”
