As we eagerly await the results of the double elimination in Tiree, here’s a quick catch up we had yesterday with current leader of the women’s fleet, Justyna Sniady:
“I stepped on a board for the first time after my injury here in Tiree last year, so it’s great to be back here for my ‘come back on the water’ anniversary 🙂
“Last year I was still unable to jump and could count wave rides only, so it feels great to be able to get some air here (for the first time) this year!
“It was definitely a challenge to get first place here in the single elimination as all the grils have put on a great show and there was no easy heats. I’ve seen some impressive wave rides from everyone, especially Megan and Ping. The level in all fleets rises not only from year to year but from one competition to another as well, which is great to see.
“I am really looking forward to some stronger winds and bigger waves coming on Friday just in time for the double elimination and hope I can defend my first position. In the meantime with the light breeze today we had a chance to do a little freestyle competiion for the kids. It was great to see how excited they were about windsurfing, and to see that 70% of them were girls! 🙂 Let’s hope that when they see us competing in proper conditions tomorrow they will get hooked on waveriding as well!”
