We are all guilty of blaming our equipment when things go wrong on the water, but how do you tell when it is your gear at fault or when it’s really down to you? And whatever the problem, how do you fix it? Simon Bornhoft joins BOARDS to explain all.
Firstly, good windsurfers make sure they are on the right equipment to suit the conditions and secondly, they can quickly detect when something’s working against them. Often, less experienced windsurfers feel they’re “Not good enough to tell the difference”, or “Don’t know if it’s their board, rig or their technique that’s causing an issue?” It’s easy to blame the kit, but with a little thought everyone can figure out if it is actually their equipment hindering their windsurfing.
