RIG TWISTING
When settled, get the rig high and place the back foot, slightly pointing forward, between the straps and to windward of the centreline.
To create lift, you need to develop a very specific ‘twisting’ action. Like turning a set of handlebars above your head, the front arm extends up and forwards while, simultaneously, the backhand pulls the clew in and up above the head. Essentially moving the rig, up, forward and to leeward.
As you come up on the board, avoid coming up ‘side on’, instead roll up towards the mast base but roughly inline with the leeward front footstrap. So, up and forwards and not directly across the board.
