HAYLING ISLAND SURF CLUB OPENS

A new surf club has been launched at the Inn on the Beach on Hayling Island seafront. The Hayling Island Surf Club (or H.I. Surf Club) caters for all board sports, i.e. windsurfing, kitesurfing, surfing, skimboarding off the seafront and skateboarding on the adjacent skate park.

Hayling Island is the birthplace of windsurfing and the club wants to continue its heritage and improve this premier south coast venue by mutually promoting the sports we love.

The club already boasts hot shower changing rooms toilets, family atmosphere, best views of the Solent (overlooking the windsurfing area), excellent photographic vantage spots, hot/cold food and full bar facilities. What’s more, it’s also the venue for the monthly Hayling windsurfing car boot sale, which is held on the last Sunday morning of every month, 12 months a year.

Hayling will host this year’s Fat face night windsurf event in September, and also hosts a round of the UKWA national slalom championships and the Inter Forces championships.

Currently, the club has the support of well-known local sailors such as Peter Hart, Jem Hall and Nick Scott, who will all run teach-ins for club members throughout the year – for example, evenings with pro sailors such as Jem Hall with his beginner to winner tuition.

As a starter we welcome Stacey Vass of Surf Sales on Wednesday 13 June, who will be demonstrating the new Exocet board range throughout the day and evening, so come along, try, and visit the club.

Planned socials such as Bands, Dinners, Xmas Bash, Informal racing, etc., will be arranged in due course. Watch this space for further information for upcoming activities.

All club members will be eligible for a discount on production of membership card for selected products at Andy Biggs Windsurfing on the Seafront, Hayling Island, which is situated only 2 mins from the club house.
