Gul signs top British Windsurfer Ben Proffitt
Ben has a huge list of credits to his name from across the windsurfing disciplines. He started his competitive career racing at the age of 13, when at his first contest he qualified for the Youth Worlds where he ended up seventh. After a string of successful racing results, which led to Ben being selected for the British Olympic squad, an injury forced him into taking some time off. On his return to fitness Ben then switched to Wave/Freestyle windsurfing. A natural talent combined with dedication to training and perfecting moves, saw Ben fly up the ranks of Wave sailing. He won his first amateur competition and so moved on to take on the Pro’s. In 2003 he was consistently placed inside the top three at National competitions, adding many titles to his name. He is currently contesting the PWA events with the hope of fulfilling his ambition of ranking highly on the World Tour.
Ben comments:
“Gul’s new ‘Delta’ wetsuit range are probably the best around as they are specifically designed for windsurfing… and when you spend more time in a wetsuit than in your clothes it makes sense to have the best… Bring on the winter!!! The new suits also look really cool… and that’s the main thing!! Ha ha!”
Gul has long standing relationship with the world of windsurfing. Being one of the first wetsuit manufacturers in Europe, much of the company’s initial growth was due to the boom of windsurfing in the early 80’s. Therefore the sport is an important area to the company with a huge emphasis on supporting British windsurfers. This year Gul has upped it’s level of support for the Corona Extra PWA World Cup at Tiree in Scotland, once again coming on board as the Official Wetsuit and Clothing Supplier.
