The pressure cooker of international competition was further enhanced today with unusually light winds leaving no respite to the heat. By midday, temperatures were reaching well into the thirties and the fleet was forced to sit out the day in nervous anticipation.
Bjorn Dunkerbeck (North) is currently leading ahead of Micah Buzianis (F2, North) and Antoine Albeau (Neil Pryde), after 3 rounds of competition. There are still 5 days of competition remaining however so there is still plenty of time for the various challengers to close the gap.
In the women’s division, Valerie Ghibaudo is holding on to a slim lead ahead of Karin Jaggi (F2) and 2004 PWA Racing Champ Allison Shreeve (F2, Neil Pryde). The women have already completed 5 full rounds of slalom, so Jaggi has her work cut out, not only trying to get ahead of Ghibaudo, but protecting herself from the challenge of Shreeve.
