Day two saw the women hit the water, with an impressive show from all of the ladies in Pozo ‘light’ conditions. Most of the women were on 3.3 – 3.5m sails, with Daida taking 3.7 and all put on a great show. Advancing into the losers final are Laure Treboux who showed some slick and fluid wave riding, along with Karin Jaggi, who proved again why she is such a brilliant competitor. The Moreno twins still reigned supreme, both making it through to the final, Daida pulling off some wave 360s to match the boys.
All heats have been run up to the finals, these will be resumed tomorrow as they had to be postponed due to the dropping waves.
After the ladies finals were abandoned there was a short break while the tide pushed back, before the under 18s fleet took to the water for a ‘best move’ contest. An amazing show was put on by all, special mention to Nicklas and Arnaud, the two eleven year olds who were absolutely ripping on 55litre boards and 2.5m ish sails! The winner was Alessio Stillrich, with some brilliant tweaked pushies amongst other moves, and Moritz Mauch took second with an insane puneta off the lip. Pablito made third place, with Arthur Arutkin racking up a lot of solid and stylish forwards in fourth.
The conditions look like they are getting better and better as the week goes on, so tune in tomorrow morning.
