Live From The Red Bull Storm Chase

The first day of the Red Bull Storm Chase to Cornwall is now complete, the final four riders all produced amazing performances in the brutal british conditions. At the end of day one it is impossible to call a leader. Browne looked consistent and at home in the hardcore conditions, regularly producing late hits and massive aerials. Traversa too looked onfire, whilst Jamaer regularly scored extra points with the judges for his full on attitude. Bruch showed what he is made of in these conditions, racking up some good scores too, so it really is all to play for tomorrow.

Fingers crossed we can look forward to more heats first thing tomorrow…

The initial session took place at Gwithian, with the final fur riders taking on 60 knot winds and triple mast high waves. It looked almost impossible for the riders to even make it out over the sets, with most making it over the first couple of the set, and then choosing to come in before meeting the biggest of the waves.

Cornwall has certainly delivered, with hundreds of spectators coming from across the country to check out the best riders in the best conditions, and they haven’t been disappointed. All the riders are going for the big jumps and moves, with push loop forward attempts, landed push loops, wave 360 attempts and more, it is impressive to see the riders even getting close to these moves in such extreme conditions. Traversa is currently leading the wave scores, after taking on some of the biggest waves of the day, whilst Jamaer is winning on jumps and has secured some extra points for his pure attack on a wave 360.

The competition is now moving to the Bluff, where the BWA took the competition to last year,  where it looks like the conditions might be slightly smaller, but a lot better for some incredible jumping.
