The 2005 Leucate Mondial du Vent PWA Super X World Cup – Day 5
Sunday April 24, 2005
Heavy seas and onshore winds pounded the beach here at La Franqui this morning as a result of overnight storms. The remnants of last nights weather systems carried with them a stiff breeze that showed all the signs of building into another excellent day’s competition and by mid morning things seemed to be shaping up quite nicely.
Despite early promise however, the wind did not strengthen and by late afternoon, it was still below what was required to reopen the bidding for victory, at this, the first event of the 2005 PWA Super X World Tour.
Current Super X World Champion, Matt Pritchard (Tabou, Gaastra) still leads ahead of French hopeful Cyril Moussilmani (Fanatic) and UK hotshot Robby Swift (JP, Neil Pryde). After a period of no wind, forecasters are promising that conditions will arrive any time in the next 24 hours so the battle is far from over.
