The mountains of Southern Fuerteventura were pin-sharp against the lucid, blue, windless skies to the west of Sotavento beach this morning. A sprinkling of mysterious cloud soon gathered around the peaks as the temperature on the beach began to rise well into the thirties and the event went back into a holding pattern. The scene was set for another day of unusual Fuerte weather.

Throughout the morning, a rare Southerly breeze steadily built until mid afternoon when it even became enough to tempt Ross Williams (Starboard, Gaastra) on to the water, keen to redeem his so far less than representatives results. Unfortunately for Williams and for the rest of the assembled racers the wind then switched offshore and dropped to around five knots, effectively ending the chances for competition today.

The men are still waiting to complete their fourth round, having sailed the early heats yesterday afternoon. Bjorn Dunkerbeck (North) is still content in first place ahead of Micah Buzianis (F2, North) and Antoine Albeau (Neil Pryde).

The women, meanwhile, already have 6 counting results which currently stand Valerie Ghibaudo in first position, closely followed by Karin Jaggi (F2) and Allison Shreeve (F2, Neil Pryde).

With the cooperation of the weather gods, racing will begin at 11.30 tomorrow, so be sure to tune in for all the latest news.
