Sam’s Crash Course in Driving
Gary Willingham, owner of Sandbanks based FCwatersports shop, thought he had come up with a foolproof plan to save some pennies this Easter holiday by trading driving lessons for windsurfing lessons with hot freestyle windsurfer, Sam Neal.
An ideal opportunity for the 17 year old FC Watersports sponsored windsurfer to familiarize himself with the company van and teach an old dog new tricks; what could possibly go wrong?
Out of the water and into the driving seat, Sam was doing well clocking up a fair few miles behind the wheel cruising around the Poole area. Smoothly surfing the streets the driving licence seemed well within his grasp, so they headed back to the shop and into the harbour to begin Gary’s training…when Sam couldn’t resist attempting one last freestyle maneuver.
“Just reverse it back in front of the shop” Gary instructed, but Sam had forgotten the golden rule of driving; mirror, signal, maneuver and failed to notice the board left outside before it was too late. This disastrous Easter break has left Gary with a bill more expensive than windsurfing lessons. But the good news is Sam is confining his freestyle moves to the water now.
