Slalom Virgin – How To Take On Your First Event

Alfie Hart journeyed to the recent BSA in Harwich to take part in his first ever slalom event. Alf also rocked up to the event with just one board, one sail (a 6.5!!!) and no experience or idea what to expect at his very first slalom event.

Alfie’s documented the whole experience, including some useful tips on taking on your first slalom race, so watch on to see how he got on. Plus, massive mention to the slightly-younger-than-average Tom Wells and Sam Latham for pushing Kev Greenslade all the way in the pro fleet and to all the amateur slalom and master blaster riders, especially the first timers.

Top Tips:

1. Don’t take it too seriously!

2. Don’t worry too much as it’ll be a big learning curve.

3. Don’t think about speed at first, just control, getting round the course and not falling in.

4. When you get overpowered crank some more outhaul on and change down your fin first.
