Sarah Bibby
Are you going?
Unfortunately I can’t make Wales even though I intended to, a bit of a double booking on my part with a surf trip before I knew the dates!
What fleet are you competing in?
Ladies
What equipment are you taking?
I’ll be taking my Simmer 69l Flywave and from 3.4 to 5.0 Simmer Halo sails with No Limitz masts and K4 fins. I’ll also have a couple of surfboards too if the wind doesn’t show.
What conditions are you hoping for?
Anything with waves and wind over head high would be nice! Down the line or onshore, either tack, I don’t mind, I just hope there is swell at least and hopefully wind too!
How have you been preparing/training for the events?
This year I have been sailing a lot as I have had some time off work. I have been training port tack in Chile and Australia, and have just come back from Maui for starboard tack training.
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
I would say riding is still my stronger point in all conditions but I am slowly improving my jumping too!
Who’s your biggest rival?
Difficult to say! If Justyna comes, her jumping is pretty consistent. Amanda Beenen’s riding looks good and also local Cornish rippers Debbie Kennedy and Sara Kellet are also ones to watch, I know they were both training in South Africa over the Winter. If Katie McAnena comes she is local to the Irish spots and charges in bigger waves so she could be good competition too! I am not sure which girls are actually going to Ireland so hopefully there will be a few to compete against!
What position finish are you aiming for?
I’d really like to come near the top if I can, hopefully my training will pay off!
